Binding the Clouds: The Art of Central Asian Ikat

  • through July 9, 2018
  • The George Washington University Museum / The Textile Museum, Washington, D.C.
Across Central Asia, oasis towns were once awash with the rainbow colors of resist-dyed ikat fabrics. Through exceptional artworks recently donated to the museum, this exhibition focuses on the sophisticated dyeing technique known in the region as abrband (binding the clouds).
