In Rebellion: Female Narratives in the Arab World

  • September 27, 2017 through January 28, 2018
  • Institut Valencià d'Art Modern
This exhibition explores the Arab world since the 1990s through the perspectives of multiple female artists. Also there are works included on reflecting the construction of femininity by men. It reveals the political capacity for transformation of women as social agents, through the use of devices such as photography and video. In Rebellion focuses on four concepts: private spaces and personal areas; the body; places and symbols of public space; and history, in its many dimensions and in the conflicts that arise.
