Rachid Koraïchi: Les Maîtres du Temps (Masters of Time)

  • June 21, 2018 through July 28, 2018
  • October Gallery, London
This exhibit presents new works by Algeria-born Rachid Koraïchi. The artist's impressive oeuvre includes large installations, ceramics, sculptures, textiles and works on canvas and paper. For Koraïchi, art represents an ancient pathway into the unknown. Signs and symbols from civilization's oldest languages are decorated and abstracted in the artist's work to elaborate a personal visual vocabulary, revealing how the artist is influenced by an abiding fascination with signs of all kinds, both real and imaginary. Beginning with the intricate beauties of the Arabic calligraphic scripts, his work comprises symbols, glyphs and ciphers drawn from a wide variety of other languages and cultures and integrates layered systems of signs into an organized and marvelous description of the world that surrounds us.
