Inspired by the East: How the Islamic World Influenced Western Art

  • October 10, 2019 through January 26, 2020
  • The British Museum, London
This exhibit looks at how, from the 1500s to the present day, artists and craftspeople from Europe and North America have drawn inspiration from—and have represented—the Islamic world, especially the Middle East and North Africa. The show offers a rare opportunity to see the Islamic Art Museum Malaysia's stunning collection of Orientalist paintings alongside glassware, ceramics, sculpture and video created by artists of the Middle East, highlighting the artistic connections that continue to stretch across the world and connect cultures.
