Pharaoh of the Two Lands: The African Story of the Kings of Napata highlights the importance of the vast Nubian kingdom, located in what is now southern Egypt and northern Sudan. In the eighth century BCE, it grew up around its capital, Napata. In about 730 BCE, Nubian King Piankhy conquered Egypt and founded the 25th Dynasty of Kushite kings, who ruled from the Nile Delta to the confluence of the White and Blue Niles.
