Art of Islamic Patterns: Rüstem Pasha Rosette Part 1 – Geometric Sub-grid
Arts & Culture
Duration:15min
Artist Adam Williamson gives you step-by-step directions on how to create a 12-fold rosette that combines geometry with plant and flower motifs to achieve a centrifugal, undulating, harmonious composition. The design was originally made for tiles adorning the mosque in Istanbul and commissioned in the 16th century by Ottoman Grand Vizier Rüstem Pasha.
