Cartier
Victoria and Albert Museum,London,England
Cartier at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London is the UK’s first major exhibition in almost 30 years dedicated to Cartier jewels and watches—charting the evolution of the company’s legacy of art, design and craftsmanship.
In the early 20th century, Cartier secured access to some of the most important gems in the world, notably thanks to sourcing trips Jacques Cartier made to the Middle East, India and Sri Lanka. This exhibition features more than 350 objects, including a diamond-set, openwork piece inspired by the bazuband—a traditional Indian upper-arm bracelet—and an Islamic-inspired diamond plaque brooch exhibited for the first time. The designer of the exhibition is architect and multidisciplinary artist Asif Khan, whose projects are displayed globally. This exhibit runs through November 16.
